Metalheart

Metalheart is a project about passivity and activity. I recently saw a psychic who practices Chinese astrology and she informed me that I only had Yin in my chart. This would mean that I am a very passive person. She analogized my passivity to an outlet that is just waiting for a plug to bring electricity to. This got me thinking about Taoism and how they speak of a natural flow of life that has an innate progression, and that it is important to choose when to be active and when to be passive as to not force an unfavorable outcome. This can be applied to all aspects of life. For this final project, I created a character that was inspired by an outlet to represent passiveness and its counterpart is a plug to represent activeness. I wanted the plug to resemble a weapon for the character as to symbolize the nature of action, yet be a choice whether to use it or not.
